On March 1" 2010 Samuel Gaffey Podiatry (SGP) opened its doors for business at 67 South Street, Ulladulla and has expanded its services to both Sussex Inlet and Moruya and has updated the practice name to Total Foot Solutions.
Often the question arises: "What does a podiatrist do?"
A podiatrist is a health professional who is responsible for assessment, diagnosis and treatment of legs, knees, ankles and feet.
Commonly treated conditions may include:
- Sports injuries: ankle sprains, tendonitis, knee pain.
- Children's foot and leg conditions: growing pains, pigeon toes.
- General/foot pain: arthritis, heel, arch or forefoot pain.
- Orthotics: to aid in treatment of these conditions.
- Diabetic foot health.
- General podiatry: ingrown toenails, calluses, corns and nail care.
- Surgical Podiatry: permanent ingrown nail solutions
SAMUEL GAFFEY – PODIATRIST
Born, raised, and educated in the Shoalhaven, Samuel completed his Bachelor of Health Science degree in Podiatry at Charles Sturt University, Albury. On completion of his studies Samuel entered employment with the podiatry department at Singapore General Hospital. It was here he gained a wealth of knowledge in high-risk diabetic management, working closely with the rehabilitation medicine department. He also honed his skills in biomechanics/ orthotic therapy working closely with the Singapore military. After a number of years with the hospital he travelled to Europe where he joined a private podiatry practice in Dublin, Ireland. Samuel returned to Australia in November 2009 spending the subsequent months working with Shoalhaven Podiatry in Nowra. He is a member of the Australian Podiatry Association (M.A. Pod. A) and Sports Medicine Australia (S. M. A). Recognising the need for podiatry services in the Milton/ Ulladulla region he decided to pursue his dreams of establishing his own podiatry clinic.
